The Mountain of my Grandmother Cloud, 2025

1-channel video projection, 16mm to digital, 14:43 min, English Subtitles Ceramic | Glass | Water | Artist book

My grandmother and I were born on different peaks of Colombia's central mountain range, very close to the páramos, the fog, and the lagoons. It was in Germany, so far from the Andean mountains, that I saw for the first time a condor, the mythical bird of South America. Encountering this animal and my grandmother's memories led me to embark on a journey with her to El Cocuy, her birthplace.

The Mountain of My Grandmother Cloud is a mixed media installation that brings together the materials of our reencounter with the territory and proposes a mythical rewriting of my grandmother's memories in which she, together with my maternal lineage, are transformed into condors and clouds. The intention of gathering these records is to create an affective geography; to retell; to insist; to bring the past to the surface; and to listen to the voices of the place: the mountain, the lagoon, the fog, and the condor.
