Audiowalk
Studio s:o:m - Janine Blöß & Tom Förderer

The forest is an interwoven system – resilient and fragile at the same time. It has survived the ice ages and provides a habitat for countless creatures.
The audio walk :hearing the unknown invites you to take a mindful stroll.
A voice in your ear guides you into the worlds of tree groups, mushroom families, and microorganisms. They are in constant communication—sometimes connected across great distances.
In :hearing the unknown, invisible biotopes become tangible and inaudible signals can be experienced with the senses.
What do the conversations of trees and fungi sound like? What does a branch feel when brushed? How do plants perceive us? And are our positions in this structure?
By making use of a biotechnological recording device, electrical signals between trees, fungi, and plants are converted into music. Combined with field recordings of the environment, a composition and story about the forest ecosystem comes together.
We will meet many creatures, change perspectives, and perhaps even reposition ourselves in the end.
A journey emerges between microbial clouds and treetops, between the forest and outer space.
